Crane Student Wins State VFW Essay Contest!

Crane Student Wins State VFW Essay Contest!

We couldn't be prouder of Geoffrey Ponce, a 7th grader on Team Africa! He recently found out that he is the winner of the state VFW essay contest! Geoffrey wrote about his grandfather, a cook on a ship in WWII. Geoffrey stated, "The veterans are the ones that protect the land of the free and define the US as the home of the brave."

Crane Middle School Student Receives Top ELL Award!

Ashley Valenzuela, a current Crane Middle School GAP student and former Valley Horizon student, has been selected by the Arizona Department of Education as an ELL Student Success Story for the 2014 Office of English Acquisition Services (OELAS) Conference.  Ashley was nominated by her Valley Horizon teacher, Mrs. Isabel Santa Cruz. The selection committee was impressed with Ashley’s dedication to English language acquisition, academics, and personal growth. The awards ceremony will take place during the OELAS Conference on the afternoon of December 11th at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass in Tucson, Arizona.
